Shloka 6.32.24
सीताविलापः (Sītā’s Lament over the Illusory Head and Bow)
अग्निष्टोमादिभिर्यज्ञैरिष्टवानाप्तदक्षिणैः ।अग्निहोत्रेणसंस्कारंकेनत्वंनतुलप्स्यसे ।।6.32.24।।
agniṣṭomādibhir yajñair iṣṭavān āpta-dakṣiṇaiḥ |
agnihotreṇa saṃskāraṃ kena tvaṃ na tulapsyase ||6.32.24||
You who performed Agniṣṭoma and other sacrifices, duly giving the priestly gifts—by what cause do you now fail to receive the final sanctifying rites, such as the agnihotra-related purifications?
"Why are you, who performed all kinds of sacrificial rituals of fire with all offerings deserve sanctification without doing fire sacrifice?"
Dharma as ritual order: the verse assumes that a righteous life aligned with Vedic duties should culminate in proper saṃskāras; the absence of rites appears as a violation of cosmic and social order.
Sītā, thinking Rāma is dead, wonders how one so dutiful in sacrifice could meet an end lacking proper sanctification and rites.
Rāma’s dharmic life (yajña, dakṣiṇā, discipline) is foregrounded—his identity as a protector and upholder of Vedic-social norms.
