Shloka 6.24.30

लङ्कानिरीक्षणं व्यूहविन्यासश्च (Survey of Lanka and Deployment of the Battle Formation)

नैवसम्भाषितुंशक्यास्सम्प्रश्नोऽत्रनलभ्यते ।प्रकृत्याकोपनास्तीक्ष्णानानराराक्षसाधिप ।।।।

naiva sambhāṣituṃ śakyāḥ sampraśno 'tra na labhyate |

prakṛtyā kopanās tīkṣṇā vānarā rākṣasādhipa ||

O lord of the Rākṣasas, it was not possible to converse there; I could not even question them. By nature the Vānaras are quick to anger and fierce.

"O king of Rakshasas! It was not possible to negotiate there with the Vanaras). I had no opportunity to interrogate with them. By nature, Vanaras are violent and are highly furious."

Effective diplomacy depends on self-control; anger obstructs truthful dialogue and inquiry, making peaceful resolution difficult.

Śuka explains to Rāvaṇa that he could not conduct a proper conversation or interrogation because the Vanaras reacted aggressively.

The implied virtue is damā (restraint); without it, even a righteous cause can be undermined by harsh conduct.
