Shloka 6.19.28

विभीषणाभिषेकः — The Consecration of Vibhishana and Counsel on Crossing the Ocean

अथाब्रवीद् हनूमांश्चसुग्रीवश्चविभीषणम् ।कथंसागरमक्षोभ्यंतरामवरुणालयम् ।।6.19.28।।सैन्यैःपरिवृतास्सर्वेवानराणांमहौजसाम् ।

athābravīd hanūmāṃś ca sugrīvaś ca vibhīṣaṇam | kathaṃ sāgaram akṣobhyaṃ tarāma varuṇālayam ||6.19.28|| sainyaiḥ parivṛtāḥ sarve vānarāṇāṃ mahaujasām |

Then Hanūmān and Sugrīva said to Vibhīṣaṇa, surrounded by the forces of the mighty Vānaras: “How are we to cross this imperturbable ocean, the abode of Varuṇa?”

Hanuman and Sugriva enquired of Vibheeshana as to how to cross this ocean that is imperturbable along with the entire lot of energetic Vanara army.

Dharma includes prudent deliberation: leaders seek wise counsel before undertaking actions affecting the whole community.

With Laṅkā across the sea, the leaders ask Vibhīṣaṇa for a viable means to cross the ocean with the full army.

Hanūmān and Sugrīva’s practical wisdom—humility to consult and plan rather than act rashly.
