सीताया अग्निप्रवेशः (Sita’s Ordeal by Fire / Agni-Pariksha)
प्रचुक्रुशुःस्त्रियःसर्वास्तांदृष्टवाहव्यवाहवे ।।।।पतन्तींसंस्कृतांमन्रन्स्सैर्वसोर्दारामिवाध्वरे ।
dadṛśus tāṃ mahābhāgāṃ praviśantīṃ hutāśanam |
sītāṃ kṛtsnāḥ trayo lokāḥ puṇyām ājyāhutīm iva ||
The entire three worlds beheld the greatly fortunate Sītā entering the fire, like a sacred offering of ghee poured into the flames.
All the women who stood there fled, screaming on seeing Sita falling into fire, like the flow of ghee poured continuously into sacrificial fire reciting sacred verses by priests.
It frames truth as a sacred offering: dharma is the willingness to place oneself before the highest moral fire, trusting that truth purifies and prevails.
The narrator describes Sītā’s entry into fire as a cosmic event witnessed by all three worlds.
