If truly my heart has never turned away from Rāghava, then may Pāvaka—witness of the world—protect me on every side.

"If it is true that my heart has never slid from Raghava at all, may the fire god protect me always and so also the world witness."

Satya as verifiable integrity: Sītā anchors truth not in persuasion but in inner constancy (steadfast mind) and calls upon an impartial cosmic witness (Agni).

Standing near the fire, Sītā begins her formal declaration, asserting unwavering fidelity to Rāma.

Steadfast loyalty and truthfulness—unshaken devotion in thought.
