रावणवधदर्शनम् — Lament of the Rākṣasa Women upon Seeing Rāvaṇa Slain
येनमित्रासितःशक्रोयेनवित्रासितोयमः ।येनवैश्रवणोराजापुष्पकेणवियोजितः ।।6.113.12।।गन्धर्वाणामृषीणां च सुराणां च महात्मनाम् ।भयंयेनरणेदत्तंसोऽयंशेतेरणेहतः ।।6.113.13।।
gandharvāṇām ṛṣīṇāṃ ca surāṇāṃ ca mahātmanām |
bhayaṃ yena raṇe dattaṃ so 'yaṃ śete raṇe hataḥ ||6.113.13||
He who once spread fear in battle among the Gandharvas, the seers, and the high-souled gods—now lies here on the battlefield, slain.
"By whom Indra feared, by whom Yama feared, at whom king Visrava feared, by whom Pushpaka was deprived to Kubera in war, by whom Gandharvas and ascetics were afraid of, by whom high souled Suras were afraid of lies in the battlefield asleep."
Power that is used to cause fear and harm is not lasting; adharma ultimately collapses, and even the mighty face the consequence (karma-phala) of violence and arrogance.
After Rāvaṇa is slain in the war, the women of Laṅkā gather and mourn, recalling how terrifying he once was even to celestial beings.
By contrast and implication, Rāma’s steadfastness in dharma is highlighted: righteous action prevails over mere might, showing moral order triumphing over terror.
