रावणवधः — The Slaying of Ravana (Brahmāstra Discharge)
अर्दितावानरैर्भ्रष्टालङ्कामभ्यपतन् भयात् ।हताश्रयात्वात्करुणैर्भाष्पप्रस्रवणैर्मुखैः ।।।।
arditā vānarair bhraṣṭā laṅkām abhyapatan bhayāt |
hatāśrayāt tvāt karuṇair bāṣpaprasravaṇair mukhaiḥ ||
Wounded by the vānaras and broken in battle, they fled in fear toward Laṅkā; their refuge was gone, and with piteous faces their tears streamed forth.
The Rakshasas hurt by the Vanaras, lost battle and their king killed, were piteous and went towards Lanka in fear, eyes filled with tears.
Depending on an adharmic refuge is unstable; when false support collapses, fear and sorrow follow—dharma is the lasting shelter.
The defeated rākṣasas, injured and terrified, retreat toward Laṅkā weeping after their king’s fall.
The verse functions as a warning: true security lies in righteous conduct, not in oppressive power.
