रावणरथवैभव–निमित्तदर्शन–राममातलिसंवादः (Ravana’s Chariot, Portents, and Rama–Matali Instructions)
धर्षणामर्षितोरामोधैर्यंरोषेणलम्भयन् ।जग्राहसुमहावेगमैन्द्रंयुधिशरासनम् ।।।।
sa rathaṃ sārathiḥ hṛṣṭaṃ parasainyapradharṣaṇam | gandharvanagarākāraṃ samucchritapātākinam ||
Delighted, Rāvaṇa’s charioteer urged on that chariot—terrifying to the enemy host—shaped like a celestial city of the Gandharvas and crowned with lofty banners.
Rama who was provoked by the assault and army was perturbed. He took up Indra's bow of extraordinary impulse and of high speed like sunbeams.
The verse contrasts outer splendor and martial power with inner righteousness: Dharma is not validated by grandeur or intimidation, but by just purpose and conduct.
As the climactic confrontation nears, the narration describes Rāvaṇa’s formidable chariot being driven forward by his charioteer.
Not a virtue but a warning-sign: the enemy’s confidence and display of might can mask moral weakness and impending downfall.
