रावण–रामयुद्धप्रारम्भः (The Intensification of the Rama–Ravana Duel)
रामवृक्षंरणेहमनिसीतापुष्पफलप्रदम् ।प्रशाखायस्यसुग्रीवोजाम्बवान्कुमुदोनलः ।।6.100.4।।दिविदश्चैवमैन्दश्चअङ्गदोगन्दमादनः ।हनुमांश्चसुषेणव्चसर्वे च हरियूथपाः ।।6.100.5।।
dvividaś caiva maindaś ca aṅgado gandhamādanaḥ |
hanumāṃś ca suṣeṇaś ca sarve ca hariyūthapāḥ ||6.100.5||
“And also Dvivida and Mainda, Aṅgada and Gandhamādana—Hanumān and Suṣeṇa as well—all the leaders of the monkey-host (are its mighty limbs).”
That tree in the shape of Rama for which Sugriva, Jambavan, Kumuda, Dwivida, Mainda, Angada, Gandhamadana and Hanuman are the principal branches, that tree which will yield flowers and fruit in the shape of Sita will be cut down in the battle.
Dharma is upheld through collective responsibility: righteous leadership and loyal allies stand together as supports of a just cause.
Rāvaṇa names the principal vānara leaders allied to Rāma, continuing his image of Rāma as a ‘tree’ sustained by strong branches.
The virtue of loyalty and organized leadership among the vānara chiefs—steadfast support for a righteous mission.
