Shloka 5.65.16

सीतावृत्तान्तनिवेदनम् / Report of Sītā’s Condition and Tokens of Recognition

तत स्सम्भाषिता देवी सर्वमर्थं च दर्शिता।।।।रामसुग्रीवसख्यं च श्रुत्वा प्रीतिमुपागता।नियत स्समुदाचारो भक्तिश्चास्यास्तथा त्वयि।।।।

tataḥ prasravaṇaṃ śailaṃ te gatvā citrakānanam |

praṇamya śirasā rāmaṃ lakṣmaṇaṃ ca mahābalam ||

yuvarājaṃ puraskṛtya sugrīvam abhivādya ca |

pravṛttim atha sītāyāḥ pravaktum upacakramuḥ ||

Thereafter they reached Mount Prasravaṇa, adorned with the wondrous Chitra-forest. Bowing their heads, they paid homage to Rama and to mighty Lakshmana; and, placing the crown prince before them with due honor, they saluted Sugriva as well. Then they began to relate the full account of Sita—her condition and all that had occurred.

"When the divine lady talked to me, I presented all the facts about the alliance of Rama and Sugriva. On hearing me, virtuous Sita, whose devotion is fixed on you became delighted.

Dharma here is maryādā—proper conduct through respectful salutations to rightful leaders—and satya—beginning an accurate report about Sita without concealment.

The vanaras return to Rama’s camp at Prasravaṇa and formally begin reporting Sita’s whereabouts and condition.

Discipline and propriety: the messengers honor Rama, Lakshmana, and Sugriva in correct order and then commit to truthful communication.
