मधुवनप्रवेशः — The Vanaras Enter Madhuvana (Honey-Grove Episode)
प्रीतिमन्तस्ततः सर्वे वायुपुत्रपरस्पराः।महेन्द्राद्रिं परित्यज्य पुप्लुवुः प्लवगर्षभाः।।।।मेरुमन्दरसङ्काशा मत्ता इव महागजाः।छादयन्त इवाकाशं महाकाया महाबलाः।।।।सभाज्यमानं भूतैस्तमात्मवन्तं महाबलम्।हनूमन्तं महावेगं वहन्त इव दृष्टिभिः।।।।राघवे चार्थनिर्ववृत्तिं कर्तुं च परमं यशः।समाधाय समृद्धार्थाः सर्वेसिद्धिभिरुन्नता।।।।प्रियाख्यानोन्मुखाः सर्वे सर्वे युद्धाभिनन्दिनः।सर्वे रामप्रतीकारे निश्चितार्था मनस्स्विनः।।।।
prītimantas tataḥ sarve vāyuputra-parasparāḥ |
mahendrādriṃ parityajya pupluvuḥ plavagarṣabhāḥ ||
mēru-mandara-saṅkāśā mattā iva mahā-gajāḥ |
chādayanta ivākāśaṃ mahākāyā mahābalāḥ ||
sabhājyamānaṃ bhūtais tam ātmavantaṃ mahābalam |
hanumantaṃ mahāvegaṃ vahanta iva dṛṣṭibhiḥ ||
rāghave cārtha-nirvavṛttiṃ kartuṃ ca paramaṃ yaśaḥ |
samādhāya samṛddhārthāḥ sarve siddhibhir unnatāḥ ||
priyākhyānonmukhāḥ sarve sarve yuddhābhinandinaḥ |
sarve rāma-pratīkāre niścitārthā manasvinaḥ ||
Then all the bull-like leaping monkeys, delighted and moving together under the leadership of the Son of the Wind, left Mount Mahendra and bounded onward. Huge-bodied and mighty, like rutting elephants and resembling Meru and Mandara, they seemed to cover the sky as they leapt. All beings praised that self-possessed, powerful, swift Hanumān; the monkeys gazed at him unblinking, as though bearing him with their eyes. Resolving to bring Rāghava’s purpose to fulfillment and to win supreme renown, they gathered their focus—some more accomplished than others—uplifted by success. All were eager for pleasant talk, all welcomed battle, and all, firm of mind, were determined to act for Rāma’s cause.
Thereafter led by Hanuman, all the vanaras left Mahendra mountain and marched very happily. The vanaras were strong and huge like elephants and resembled mountain Meru. Moreover when they leaped up they seemed to cover the sky (so it was difficult to tell their numbers). Since Hanuman had accomplished the task, the vanaras were praising his strength, his swiftness and courage. They were looking at Hanuman without blinking their eyes, and seemed as though they were carrying him by their eyes. They were determined in their minds to please Rama. Remaining in a state of offering themselves, some of them more accomplished than others, collected together eager to wage war and talking pleasantly among themselves having resolved to assist Rama.
Dharma as loyal service: the vānaras align their energies to fulfill Rāma’s righteous aim. Praise of Hanumān highlights dharma accomplished through courage, competence, and devotion to a just cause.
After Hanumān completes his mission in Laṅkā, the vānaras depart from Mahendra mountain, celebrate his success, and prepare—mentally and militarily—to assist Rāma.
Hanumān’s steadfastness and capability, and the vānaras’ collective determination—disciplined resolve directed toward righteous action.
