Shloka 5.53.41

लाङ्गूलदाह-पर्यटनम् (The Burning Tail and the Parade through Laṅkā)

स भूत्वा शैलसङ्काशः क्षणेन पुनरात्मवान्।।5.53.41।।ह्रस्वतां परमां प्राप्तो बन्धनान्यवशातयत्।

sa bhūtvā śailasaṅkāśaḥ kṣaṇena punar ātmavān || 5.53.41 ||

hrasvatāṁ paramāṁ prāpto bandhanāny avaśātayat |

Having become mountain-like, and then in an instant regaining self-mastery, he shrank to a very small size and cast off his bonds.

From his mountain-like form he assumed his original small figure within a moment casting off the bonds.

Inner discipline supports dharma: self-mastery enables one to resist coercion and continue righteous work even when externally restrained.

At the gate-area, Hanumān changes size swiftly and frees himself from the bindings placed on him.

Ātma-vaśyatā (self-control) and adaptability—he uses strength and subtlety as needed, without losing focus on duty.
