He saw some women fondling their beloveds; others lay asleep there; some, with beautiful faces, laughed; and others, angered, breathed out heavily in vexation.
He even saw women collected there, their limbs smeared with unguents on their bodies, like wise women with beautiful countenances laughing at others, some sleeping, and others hissing (sighing) like angry serpents.
The verse highlights fluctuating emotions (desire, laughter, anger) as part of worldly life; dharma teaches mastery over such impulses rather than being driven by them.
Hanumān continues observing domestic scenes inside Laṅkā’s residences while searching for Sītā.
Steadfastness (dhṛti): Hanumān remains undeterred and attentive amid varied sights and moods.
