रावणदर्शनम् — Hanuman Beholds Ravana in Court
भ्राजमानं ततो दृष्ट्वा हनुमान्राक्षसेश्वरम्।मनसा चिन्तयामास तेजसा तस्य मोहितः।।5.49.16।।
bhrājamānaṃ tato dṛṣṭvā hanumān rākṣaseśvaram | manasā cintayāmāsa tejasā tasya mohitaḥ ||5.49.16||
Seeing the lord of the Rakṣasas shining with splendor, Hanuman—momentarily overawed by that radiance—began reflecting within his mind.
Seeing the splendour of the lord of demons, Hanuman was dimayed and started thinking thus:
Dharma requires discernment: one must not confuse dazzling power (tejas) with righteousness; reflection restores right judgment.
Hanuman, after seeing Ravana’s magnificence, pauses internally to assess what it means for the conflict.
Viveka (clear discrimination): Hanuman thinks carefully rather than reacting blindly.
