Hearing Hanumān’s words, that Laṅkā—able to assume forms at will—grew wrathful and spoke harshly to the son of the Wind-god.
The spirit of Lanka who could assume any form at her will got enraged on hearing the words of Hanuman and spake in a harsh tone.;
Control of speech: the verse highlights how anger tends to produce harsh words, implicitly warning that dharmic speech should remain measured even under provocation.
The guardian spirit of Laṅkā reacts to Hanumān’s challenge and prepares to respond aggressively.
By contrast, Hanumān’s steadiness is set against Laṅkā’s anger; the scene underscores the value of restraint amid confrontation.
