Hanuman Beholds Sita in the Ashoka Grove
नमस्कृत्वा च रामाय लक्ष्मणाय च वीर्यवान्।सीतादर्शनसंहृष्टो हनुमान् संवृतोऽभवत्।।।।
namaskṛtvā ca rāmāya lakṣmaṇāya ca vīryavān | sītādarśanasaṃhṛṣṭo hanumān saṃvṛto 'bhavat || 5.17.32 ||
Having bowed in reverence to Rāma and to Lakṣmaṇa, the heroic Hanumān—thrilled at the sight of Sītā—kept himself concealed and remained waiting.
Seeing that lady with eyes intoxicating, Hanuman shed tears of joy. At once he paid obeisance to Rama. (thinking he could trace Sita at last).
Dharma includes disciplined restraint: even in success, one must act wisely, protect the vulnerable, and prioritize the mission over impulsive display.
Hanumān, after locating Sītā, does not reveal himself immediately; he hides to observe and choose the right moment to act.
Hanumān’s prudence (nīti), self-control, and devotion to Rāma and Lakṣmaṇa.
