सम्परिक्रम्य हनुमान्रावणस्य निवेशनात्।अदृष्ट्वा जानकीं सीतामब्रवीद्वचनं कपिः।।।।
samparikramya hanumān rāvaṇasya niveśanāt | adṛṣṭvā jānakīṃ sītām abravīd vacanaṃ kapiḥ ||
After circling through Rāvaṇa’s residence and not seeing Jānakī Sītā, Hanumān, the Vānara, spoke these words to himself.
"Or, she might have attained death, meditating on Rama, whose face resembles the full-moon and eyes the lotus petals.
Dharma as faithful duty: Hanumān continues a careful search rather than assuming outcomes, showing responsibility to Rāma’s mission and commitment to truth (satya) through direct verification.
Hanumān has searched within/around Rāvaṇa’s palace but has not found Sītā, and he begins reflecting aloud to himself.
Perseverance and conscientiousness—Hanumān does not abandon the task even when the initial search yields no result.
