Seeing it all as futile—the mighty Vānara leaders’ effort and even the crossing of the ocean—the son of the Wind fell once more into anxious thought.

The son of the Wind god, the great monkey realised the futility of his efforts in crossing the sea. He brooded again.

Duty involves weighing consequences: his worry reflects concern that collective sacrifice should not become wasted—an ethical burden of leadership and service.

After not finding Sītā, Hanumān fears the entire expedition—including the ocean-crossing—may have been in vain.

Conscientiousness—he values the efforts of others and feels accountable to the mission’s success.
