समुद्रलङ्घनारम्भः — Commencement of the Ocean-Crossing
आस्ये तस्या निमज्जन्तं ददृशुः सिद्धचारणाः।ग्रस्यमानं यथा चन्द्रं पूर्णं पर्वणि राहुणा।।।।
āsye tasyā nimajjantaṃ dadṛśuḥ siddhacāraṇāḥ |
grasya-mānaṃ yathā candraṃ pūrṇaṃ parvaṇi rāhuṇā ||
Siddhas and Cāraṇas watched him sink into her mouth—like the full moon on the night of the full moon being seized by Rāhu.
The siddhas and charanas who were watching his performance of drowning in her mouth were amazed as though the moon is seized by Rahu on a full-moon night.
Dharma is upheld even when it appears eclipsed: righteous effort may seem overwhelmed, yet it is not defeated in truth.
Celestial beings observe Hanumān entering the demoness’s mouth, and the poet frames the suspense through an eclipse comparison.
Fearlessness and composure—Hanumān acts decisively even as onlookers see a moment of apparent peril.
