समुद्रलङ्घनारम्भः — Commencement of the Ocean-Crossing
घनराजीव गर्जन्ती वानरं समभिद्रवत्।।।।स ददर्श ततस्तस्या विवृतं सुमहन्मुखम्।कायमात्रं च मेधावी मर्माणि च महाकपिः।।।।
ghanarājīva garjantī vānaraṃ samabhidravat |
sa dadarśa tatas tasyā vivṛtaṃ sumahanmukham |
kāyamātraṃ ca medhāvī marmāṇi ca mahākapiḥ ||
Roaring like a dense mass of thunderclouds, Siṃhikā rushed at the vanara. Then the wise great monkey saw her vast, gaping mouth—and he also marked the vulnerable vital spots of her body.
Roaring like a heavy mass of clouds, Simhika chased Hanuman. Intelligent Hanumanobserved her enormous mouth and noticed her vital parts.
Dharma includes intelligent restraint and right action: one should assess danger accurately and respond in a way that protects the righteous mission.
Siṃhikā attacks Hanumān mid-flight; Hanumān immediately evaluates her threat—especially her gaping mouth and weak points.
Mati (clear intelligence) and dṛṣṭi (keen perception): seeing the situation as it is and identifying the decisive point.
