समुद्रलङ्घनारम्भः — Commencement of the Ocean-Crossing

हनुमांस्तु ततः क्रुद्धस्त्रिंशद्योजनमायतः।।5.1.163।।चकार सुरसा वक्त्रं चत्वारिंशत्तथोच्छ्रितम्।बभूव हनुमावनीरः पञ्चाशद्योजनोच्छ्रितः।।5.1.164।।

Transliteration

hanumāṃs tu tataḥ kruddhas triṃśadyojanam āyataḥ | (5.1.163) cakāra surasā vaktraṃ catvāriṃśat tathocchritam | babhūva hanumān vīraḥ pañcāśadyojanocchritaḥ || (5.1.164)

Translation

This verse reiterates the preceding sequence: Hanumān expands, Surasā enlarges her mouth, and Hanumān grows still more—underscoring the mounting intensity of the divine test.

Context

Provoked, Hanuman further stretched his body to thirty yojanas and Surasa on her own enlarged her mouth to forty yojanas. Then the great hero Hanuman stretched his body to fifty yojanas.
