On that lovely and excellent mountain, in former times a divine and enchanting yajña was performed in honor of Maheśvara (Śiva), bringing delight to the minds of all the gods.
A divine, wonderful, delightful Yagna dedicated to Lord Siva used to be performed on the beautiful (Himalayan) mountain in the past so that the minds of all deities were satisfied.
Dharma is reverence expressed through yajña—right action performed in a sacred manner that sustains cosmic harmony and pleases the divine.
The narration pauses the army-muster to describe the sanctity of the mountain by recalling an ancient Śiva-related sacrifice performed there.
Piety and sacred orientation—recognizing holy places and the merit of righteous ritual action.
