Shloka 4.31.8

लक्ष्मणक्रोधः सुग्रीवप्रबोधनं च (Lakshmana’s Wrath and the Summoning of Sugriva)

सामोपहितया वाचा रूक्षाणि परिवर्जयन्।वक्तुमर्हसि सुग्रीवं व्यतीतं कालपर्यये।।

sāmopahitayā vācā rūkṣāṇi parivarjayan | vaktum arhasi sugrīvaṃ vyatītaṃ kāla-paryaye ||

Sugriva has let the appointed time pass; therefore you should speak to him using conciliatory words, avoiding harsh speech.

'Sugriva has exceeded the time limit. Avoiding harsh words, you ought to speak to him in a conciliatory manner.

Dharma of speech: even when admonishing delay or failure, one should use measured, conciliatory language rather than cruelty in words.

Rama sends Lakshmana to remind Sugriva of the overdue task, instructing him to use ‘sāma’ (conciliation) instead of harshness.
