Shloka 4.31.24

लक्ष्मणक्रोधः सुग्रीवप्रबोधनं च (Lakshmana’s Wrath and the Summoning of Sugriva)

नखदंष्ट्रायुधा घोरास्सर्वे विकृतदर्शनाः।।सर्वे शार्दूलदर्पाश्च सर्वे च विकृताननाः।

nakhadaṃṣṭrāyudhā ghorāḥ sarve vikṛtadarśanāḥ | sarve śārdūladarpāś ca sarve ca vikṛtānanāḥ ||

Dreadful were they all—armed with nails and fangs—grim to behold; all were tiger-proud, and all had fierce, distorted faces.

The monkeys, their faces, deformed, their nails and teeth like weapons were dreadful and horrifying in appearance, proud as tigers;

Power without restraint can become intimidating; dharma requires that strength be governed by rightful purpose and wise leadership.

The text describes the formidable monkey forces assembling in response to the approaching Lakṣmaṇa.

Martial courage—though presented as raw, fearsome capability awaiting direction.
