प्रस्रवणगिरिवासवर्णनम् (Residence on Mount Prasravana; Counsel during the Rains)
गिरिशृङ्गमिदं रम्यमुन्नतं पार्थिवात्मज4.27.7।।श्वेताभिः कृष्णताम्राभिश्शिलाभिरुपशोभितम्।नानाधातुसमाकीर्णं दरीनिर्झरशोभितम्4.27.8।।विविधैर्वृक्षषण्डैश्च चारुचित्रलतायुतम्।नानाविहगसङ्घुष्टं मयूररवनादितम्4.27.9।।मालतीकुन्दगुल्मैश्च सिन्धुवारैश्शिरीषकैः।कदम्बार्जुनसर्जैश्च पुष्पितैरुपशोभितम्4.27.10।।
vividhair vṛkṣaṣaṇḍaiś ca cārucitralatāyutam |
nānāvihagasaṅghuṣṭaṁ mayūraravanāditam || 4.27.9 ||
It is filled with varied groves of trees and lovely, colorful creepers; it resounds with flocks of many birds, and is enlivened by the calls of peacocks.
'O prince this lovely mountain peak is lofty. It has white, black and red stones with many kinds of minerals scattered all over. It is delightful with caves and streams, and various clusters of trees and variegated vines. The chirps of several kinds of birds as well as the sounds of excellent peacocks are heard here. This place is delightful with bushes of jasmine, kunda and sindhuvara, sireeshaka, kadamba, arjuna and sarja in bloom.
The verse evokes harmony in nature to steady the heart: dharma requires inner composure, and the speaker uses the living landscape as a means to restore balance and resolve.
The companion continues describing the mountain’s abundance of plant life and birdsong, making the environment vivid and inviting.
