वालिनः और्ध्वदैहिकम् — Vali’s Funeral Rites and the Consolation of the Bereaved
ततो वालिनमुद्यम्य सुग्रीवश्शिबिकां तदा।आरोपयत विक्रोशन्नङ्गदेन सहैव तु4.25.27।।
tato vālinamudyamya sugrīvaśśibikāṃ tadā | āropayata vikrośannaṅgadena sahaiva tu ||
Then Sugriva, wailing aloud together with Angada, lifted Vali and placed him upon the palanquin.
Then Sugriva along with Angada, crying aloud bitterly, lifted the body (of Vali) and placed it on the palanquin.
Despite their previous enmity, Sugriva performing the final rites signifies the restoration of fraternal Dharma and respect for the deceased king.
Angada, the son of Vali, assisted his uncle Sugriva, symbolizing the unity of the family in the face of tragedy.
