वालिवधः — The Slaying of Vali
तामेवं ब्रुवतीं तारां ताराधिपनिभाननाम्।वाली निर्भर्त्सयामास वचनं चेदमब्रवीत्4.16.1।।
tām evaṃ bruvatīṃ tārāṃ tārādhipa-nibhānanām | vālī nirbhartsayāmāsa vacanaṃ cedam abravīt ||
As Tara—moon-faced like the lord of stars—spoke thus, Vāli rebuked her and replied with these words.
To these words of Tara with her Moon-like face, Vali replied reproachfully:
It warns that anger can distort relationships and speech; Dharma asks leaders to hear counsel respectfully, especially from well-wishers.
Transition into Sarga 16: Vāli rejects Tārā’s advice and responds harshly.
By contrast, Tārā’s loyalty is highlighted against Vāli’s impatience and pride.
