समुद्रात्पश्चिमात्पूर्वं दक्षिणादपि चोत्तरम्।क्रामत्यनुदिते सूर्ये वाली व्यपगतक्लमः4.11.4।।
samudrāt paścimāt pūrvaṃ dakṣiṇād api cottaram |
krāmaty anudite sūrye vālī vyapagataklamaḥ || 4.11.4 ||
Before the sun has risen, Vālī—untouched by fatigue—ranges across the oceans from west to east and also from south to north, as part of his disciplined daily observances.
'In the early hours before Sunrise Vali crosses over the oceans from the west to the east and moving from south to north (performing sandhya) without getting fatigued.
The verse highlights disciplined conduct and self-mastery: even immense power is framed as guided by regulated practice (daily observance before sunrise), suggesting that strength should be yoked to disciplined duty.
In the Kishkindhā setting, Vālī’s extraordinary capacity is being described to convey how formidable he is—able to traverse vast directions before sunrise without fatigue.
Endurance and disciplined vigor: Vālī is portrayed as tireless and capable of sustained effort aligned with routine observance.
