Shloka 4.10.27
सुग्रीवस्य वैरानुकथनम् (Sugriva’s Account of Enmity and Appeal to Rama)
तेनाहमपविद्धश्च हृतदारश्च राघव।तद्भयाच्छ महीकृत्स्ना क्रान्तेयं सवनार्णवा।।
tenāham apaviddhaś ca hṛtadāraś ca rāghava | tadbhayāc ca mahīkṛtsnā krānteyaṃ savanārṇavā ||
Because of him, O Rāghava, I have been cast out and robbed of my wife; and out of fear of him I have wandered over this whole earth, filled with forests and bounded by oceans.
'O Rama! my wife has been usurped. There is the fear of his attack. So I am roaming this entire earth, covered with forests and oceans.
It condemns the adharma of seizing another’s spouse and ruling through fear; dharma demands protection of the vulnerable and restraint of power.
Sugrīva explains that Vālī both expelled him and took his wife, forcing him to roam in fear.
Sugrīva’s perseverance under oppression and his appeal to righteous authority (Rāma) rather than lawlessness.
