Shloka 4.10.24

सुग्रीवस्य वैरानुकथनम् (Sugriva’s Account of Enmity and Appeal to Rama)

पादप्रहारैस्तु मया बहुभिस्तद्विदारितम्।ततोऽहं तेन निष्क्रम्य यथा पुरमुपागतः।।

pāda-prahārais tu mayā bahubhis tad vidāritam | tato ’haṃ tena niṣkramya yathā puram upāgataḥ ||

With many kicks I shattered it and forced it open; then, through that breach, I came out and made my way back to the city.

'I kicked the boulder again and again till it yielded. I came out that way and arrived at the city.

When support fails, dharma also demands self-effort: one must strive to restore order and return to responsibility rather than succumb to misfortune.

Finding the cave sealed, Vāli forces an exit by repeated kicks and returns to the city.

Determination—he refuses to remain trapped and exerts himself until escape becomes possible.
