सुग्रीवस्य वैरानुकथनम् (Sugriva’s Account of Enmity and Appeal to Rama)
स्थितोऽयमिति मत्वा तु प्रविष्टोऽहं दुरासदम्।तं च मे मार्गमाणस्य गतस्संवत्सरस्तदा।।
sthito ’yam iti matvā tu praviṣṭo ’haṃ durāsadam | taṃ ca me mārgamāṇasya gataḥ saṃvatsaras tadā ||
Thinking, “He is waiting there,” I entered that hard-to-assail place; and as I searched for him within, a full year passed.
'Presuming that Sugriva was waiting there, I entered the formidable cave. While I was searching for the demon there, one year passed.
Steadfastness in undertaking one’s duty: even when outcomes are delayed, persistence in a righteous task is upheld.
Vāli enters the cave believing Sugrīva is waiting outside; the search and fight extend so long that an entire year elapses.
Endurance and perseverance—continuing the pursuit of the enemy despite prolonged hardship.
