Understanding the gods’ intention, the Grandsire—foremost among the truthful—brought about a rivalry between the two.
Foremost among the truthful, Grandsire Brahma come to know the intention of thegods and triggered a conflict between the gods.
It presents a complex dharmic idea: conflict may be deliberately initiated as a means of clarification and restoration of order, but it must serve truth (satya) rather than ego.
Paraśurāma recounts Brahmā’s response—creating opposition between Śiva and Viṣṇu to resolve the gods’ question about relative power.
Brahmā’s role as adjudicator aligned with satya—he acts to manifest a decisive demonstration rather than leaving the matter to speculation.
