त्रिसप्ततितमः सर्गः (Sarga 73): Mithilā Vivāha—Kanyādāna and the Fourfold Marriage Rites
यस्मिंस्तु दिवसे राजा चक्रे गोदानमुत्तमम् ।तस्मिं स्तु दिवसे शूरो युधाजित्समुपेयिवान्।।1.73.1।।
yasmiṁs tu divase rājā cakre godānam uttamam | tasmiṁs tu divase śūro yudhājit samupāyivān ||
On the very day the king performed the most excellent gift of cows, the heroic Yudhājit arrived on that same day.
The day the king (Dasaratha) made a gift of the best (available) cows the heroic Yudhajit arrived.
It foregrounds dāna-dharma (righteous giving): generosity—especially cow-gifts—signals a king’s duty to sustain social and sacred order.
A transition note: during Daśaratha’s charitable gifting, Yudhājit arrives, setting up the next movement of the story.
Daśaratha’s generosity and public-spirited kingship, expressed through sanctioned giving.
