त्रिसप्ततितमः सर्गः (Sarga 73): Mithilā Vivāha—Kanyādāna and the Fourfold Marriage Rites
शत्रुघ्नं चापि धर्मात्मा अब्रवीज्जनकेश्वर:।श्रुतकीर्त्या महाबाहो पाणिं गृह्णीष्व पाणिना।।।।
śatrughnaṁ cāpi dharmātmā abravīj janakeśvaraḥ | śrutakīrtyā mahābāho pāṇiṁ gṛhṇīṣva pāṇinā ||
And the righteous lord Janaka spoke to Śatrughna as well: “O mighty-armed one, take Śrutakīrti’s hand with your own.”
The righteous king Janaka, said again: "O Mighty-armed Satrughna take the hands of Srutakirti".
Marriage is presented as a dhārmic institution entered through consent, ritual propriety, and public responsibility—each union is affirmed openly and correctly.
Janaka completes the sequence of bride-giving by instructing Śatrughna to accept Śrutakīrti.
Janaka’s dharma-minded governance (dharmātmā) and Śatrughna’s disciplined acceptance of duty.
