वैवाहिकसंबन्ध-निश्चयः / Fixing the Mithila–Ayodhya Marital Alliance
यथा दशरथस्येयं तथाऽयोध्या पुरी मम।प्रभुत्वे नास्ति सन्देहो यथार्हं कर्तुमर्हथ।।।।
yathā daśarathasye 'yaṃ tathā 'yodhyā purī mama | prabhutve nāsti sandeho yathārhaṃ kartum arhatha ||
“As this city is Daśaratha’s, so Ayodhyā is mine—there is no doubt about rightful authority. Therefore, do what is fitting, as you deem proper.”
"Dasaratha has right on the city of Ayodhya as much as I have on this. This right is unquestionable. So do whatever you think right".
Dharma is fairness and truth in political relations: Janaka clearly acknowledges equal legitimacy of sovereignty, preventing rivalry and ensuring righteous cooperation.
Janaka reassures the sages and the Ayodhyā party that authority and decision-making can proceed without dispute, enabling the marriage arrangements smoothly.
Integrity and statesmanship—Janaka speaks plainly (satya) and promotes concord through equitable recognition of rights.
