वैवाहिकसंबन्ध-निश्चयः / Fixing the Mithila–Ayodhya Marital Alliance
एवं भवतु भद्रं व: कुशध्वजसुते इमे।पत्न्यौ भजेतां सहितौ शत्रुघ्नभरतावुभौ।।।।
evaṃ bhavatu bhadraṃ vaḥ kuśadhvajasute ime | patnyau bhajetāṃ sahitau śatrughnabharatāv ubhau ||
“So be it—may prosperity attend you. Let these two daughters of Kuśadhvaja become the wives of Bharata and Śatrughna, and together may they share the duties of household life.”
"Let it be so, Be blessed! Let these two daughters of Kusadhwaja (Mandavi and Srutakirti) be the wives of Satrughna and Bharata respectively and serve them.
Dharma here is gṛhastha-dharma: marriage as a shared life of duty, where spouses ‘together’ uphold household responsibilities and social stability.
Janaka formally agrees to the matching of Kuśadhvaja’s two daughters with Bharata and Śatrughna.
Decisiveness joined with auspicious goodwill—Janaka confirms the alliance while invoking blessings for all parties.
