रम्भा-प्रलोभनम् — Rambhā’s Temptation and Viśvāmitra’s Curse
बभूवास्य मनश्चिन्ता तपोऽपहरणे कृते ।नैव क्रोधं गमिष्यामि न च वक्ष्ये कथञ्चन।।1.64.17।।
babhūvāsya manaś cintā tapo ’paharaṇe kṛte | naiva krodhaṃ gamiṣyāmi na ca vakṣye kathaṃcana || 1.64.17 ||
When his ascetic merit had been impaired, a resolve arose in his mind: “I shall never again give way to anger, nor shall I speak in such a manner in any way.”
Having been deprived of his ascetic merit, he resolved not to lose his temper nor ever breathe a word".
Dharma is upheld through deliberate vows: restraining anger and restraining speech are both ethical disciplines, protecting truthfulness and non-harm.
After realizing the loss caused by anger, Viśvāmitra forms a firm inner resolution to avoid anger and harsh utterance.
Self-regulation—especially mastery over speech (vāk-saṃyama) and temper.
