Are your servants well provided for, and do they remain obedient to your rule? O slayer of foes, have you subdued all your enemies?

Are your servants provided well with their requirements? Do they abide by your command? O Destroyer of foes! have all your enemies been conquered ?

Vasiṣṭha

Daśaratha

Rajadharma: a ruler must ensure the welfare of dependents (servants) and maintain disciplined administration, while also protecting the realm from enemies.

Vasiṣṭha is inquiring about King Daśaratha’s statecraft—how he maintains his staff, enforces his commands, and secures the kingdom.

Responsible kingship: care for subordinates, firmness in governance, and protective strength against hostile forces.
