शतानन्दोपदेशः — Śatānanda’s Welcome to Rāma and the Prelude to Viśvāmitra’s History

तच्छ्रुत्वा वचनं तस्य विश्वामित्रस्य भाषितम् ।शतानन्दो महातेजा रामं वचनमब्रवीत्।।।।

tac chrutvā vacanaṁ tasya viśvāmitrasya bhāṣitam | śatānando mahā-tejā rāmaṁ vacanam abravīt ||

Having heard the words spoken by Viśvāmitra, the radiant Śatānanda addressed these words to Rāma.

Having heard Viswamitra the highly brilliant Satananda said to Rama:

V
Viśvāmitra
Ś
Śatānanda
R
Rāma

Dharma is transmitted through respectful instruction: elders and sages guide the young hero, ensuring right understanding of persons, merit, and duty.

After Viśvāmitra’s reply, Śatānanda shifts the conversation and begins addressing Rāma directly.

Śatānanda’s role as a teacher: he prepares to instruct and bless Rāma, reflecting the guru-like duty of sages in epic narrative.
