गङ्गावतरण-समापनः (Conclusion of the Descent of Gaṅgā)
प्रमुमोद ह लोकस्तं नृपमासाद्य राघव।नष्टशोकस्समृद्धार्थो बभूव विगतज्वर:।।1.44.19।।
pramumoda ha lokas taṃ nṛpam āsādya rāghava | naṣṭaśokaḥ samṛddhārtho babhūva vigatajvaraḥ || 1.44.19 ||
O Rāghava, the people rejoiced on obtaining him as their king. His purpose fulfilled, his grief ended, he became free from inner torment.
"O Best of the Raghus! the world rejoiced having Bhagiratha as king. With his purpose achieved, he was freed from all mental afflictions and sorrows and thereafter lived happily.
Dharma in kingship is validated by public well-being: when a ruler is righteous and purposeful, society prospers and rejoices.
After returning to rule, Bhagiratha is accepted joyfully by the people; his long struggle ends in peace of mind.
Relief born of fulfilled duty—steadfast effort culminates in inner calm once dharma is accomplished.
