सगरपुत्राणां रसातलगमनम् — The Descent of Sagara’s Sons and the Wrath of Kapila
तं ते प्रदक्षिणं कृत्वा पृष्ट्वा चापि निरामयम्।खनन्त स्समुपक्रान्ता दिशं हैमवतीं तत:।।।।
taṃ te pradakṣiṇaṃ kṛtvā pṛṣṭvā cāpi nirāmayam |
khanantaḥ samupakrāntā diśaṃ haimavatīṃ tataḥ ||
Having circumambulated him to the right and inquired after his well-being, they then proceeded—still digging—toward the northern, Himālaya-facing quarter.
Having paid homage and enquiring as to his well-being, they arrived at the northern region by digging the earth.
Dharma includes courtesy and care: they do not merely pass by a guardian being, but inquire about well-being, reflecting respectful speech and humane regard.
After honoring the western guardian, the princes continue their subterranean digging and move toward the northern quarter.
Civility (vinaya): respectful conduct expressed through pradakṣiṇā and considerate inquiry.
