कुमारसम्भवः—गङ्गायां तेजोनिक्षेपः (The Birth of Kumāra/Skanda and the Deposition of Śiva’s Energy through Gaṅgā)
सुरसेनागणपतिं ततस्तमतुलद्युतिम्।।1.37.30।।अभ्यषिञ्चन् सुरगणा स्समेत्याग्निपुरोगमा:।
sura-senā-gaṇapatiṁ tatas tam atula-dyutim || 1.37.30 ||
abhyaṣiñcan sura-gaṇāḥ sametyāgni-purogamāḥ |
Then the assembled gods, with Agni at their head, consecrated him—of incomparable radiance—as commander of the divine hosts.
With the Fire-god in the forefront, all the gods assembled and installed Karttikeya, shining on unsurpassed brilliant, as commander of the gods forces.
Dharma is institutional legitimacy: leadership is established through a recognized rite and collective assent, ensuring authority serves order rather than personal force.
The gods gather and formally install Kārttikeya/Skanda as their military commander, with Agni prominently present.
Fitness for leadership: the child’s radiance and capability are acknowledged through consecration, linking power with sanctioned responsibility.
