Shloka 1.37.27
कुमारसम्भवः—गङ्गायां तेजोनिक्षेपः (The Birth of Kumāra/Skanda and the Deposition of Śiva’s Energy through Gaṅgā)
स्कन्द इत्यब्रुवन् देवा: स्कन्नं गर्भपरिस्रवात्।।1.37.27।।कार्तिकेयं महाभागं काकुत्स्थ ज्वलनोपमम्।
skanda ity abruvan devāḥ skannaṁ garbha-parisravāt || 1.37.27 ||
kārtikeyaṁ mahā-bhāgaṁ kākutstha jvalanopamam |
“Skanda”—so the gods called him, since he had descended as the embryo flowed forth. O Kakutstha, that most fortunate Kārttikeya shone in splendour like a blazing fire.
O scion of the Kakusthas, Karttikeya lustrous like flaming fire, was very fortunate Descended from the womb of the Ganga, he is named Skanda by the gods.
Dharma is expressed through truthful designation and recognition of purpose: the gods name the child in accordance with the event, affirming identity and destiny without distortion (satya in naming).
The gods formally name the newborn ‘Skanda’ and identify him as Kārttikeya, describing his fiery brilliance to Rāma.
Clarity and authority: the gods establish the child’s identity and role with decisive, orderly proclamation.
