Then, when the child Kumāra was born, the gods—together with Indra and the hosts of Maruts—appointed the Kṛttikās to nurse him with their milk.

O tiger among men, O scion of the Raghus! Then onwards gold which is effulgent like fire, became well-known as Jatarupa (pure form). The grass, shrubs, creepers and trees of that forest looked golden.

Dharma appears as collective responsibility: the devas ensure proper care for the newborn, showing that righteous order includes protection and nurturing of the vulnerable.

After Kumāra’s birth, Indra and the Maruts coordinate care by assigning the Kṛttikās as his nurses.

The devas’ foresight and guardianship—organized, cooperative protection in service of a larger cosmic purpose.
