बालकाण्ड सर्ग ३६ — गङ्गा-प्रभवप्रश्नः, शिवतेजोधारणं, कार्त्तिकेय-जन्म, उमाशापः

अभिगम्य सुरास्सर्वे प्रणिपत्येदमब्रुवन्।देव देव महादेव लोकस्यास्य हिते रत ।।।।सुराणां प्रणिपातेन प्रसादं कर्तुमर्हसि।

Transliteration

abhigamya surāḥ sarve praṇipatya idam abruvan | deva deva mahādeva lokasyāsya hite rata | surāṇāṃ praṇipātena prasādaṃ kartum arhasi ||

Translation

All the gods approached and, bowing low, said: “O God of gods, O Mahādeva, ever intent on the welfare of this world—be gracious to the gods who prostrate before you.”

All devatas approached Siva and paying their obeisance said, "O God of the gods engaged in the welfare of all! O Mahadeva! accept our salutations! Be king which you can be (if you will)".
