तृतीयः सर्गः (Bālakāṇḍa 3): Vālmīki’s Yogic Verification and the Epic Synopsis
रामलक्ष्मणसीताभी राज्ञा दशरथेन च ।
सभार्येण सराष्ट्रेण यत्प्राप्तं तत्र तत्त्वत: ।।1.3.3।।
हसितं भाषितं चैव गतिर्या यच्च चेष्टितम् ।
तत्सर्वं धर्मवीर्येण यथावत्सम्प्रपश्यति ।।1.3.4।।
hasitaṃ bhāṣitaṃ caiva gatir yā yac ca ceṣṭitam |
tat sarvaṃ dharmavīryeṇa yathāvat samprapaśyati || 1.3.4 ||
By the power born of dharma and tapas, he beheld with perfect clarity—just as it truly was—their laughter, their speech, the course of events, and every undertaking.
By the power of his penance, the holy sage visualised clearly Rama, Lakshmana and Sita, king Dasaratha, his wives and his kingdom and all that they had observed, experienced, endeavoured during the course of events. He also visualised clearly their laughter and conversation exactly as in real life.
Dharma is portrayed as a real spiritual power: through dharma-born potency, the sage can perceive truthfully and without distortion.
After receiving the outline from Narada, Valmiki enters a heightened state of insight and ‘sees’ the events of Rama’s life in precise detail.
Valmiki’s dharmic integrity and disciplined insight—his capacity to witness events truthfully, not merely imagine them.
