Shloka 1.2.2

द्वितीयः सर्गः — श्लोकप्रादुर्भावः (The Manifestation of the Śloka)

यथावत्पूजितस्तेन देवर्षिर्नारदस्तदा । आपृष्ट्वैवाभ्यनुज्ञातस्स जगाम विहायसम् ।।1.2.2।।

yathāvat pūjitas tena devarṣir nāradas tadā | āpṛṣṭvaivābhyanujñātaḥ sa jagāma vihāyasam ||1.2.2||

Then the divine sage Nārada, duly honored by him (Vālmīki), took leave with permission and departed into the heavens.

The divine sage Narada after having been worshipped by Valmiki in a befitting manner sought his leave and went to heaven.

Proper hospitality and reverence toward a sage (atithi-satkara) is upheld as dharma; honoring the worthy invites auspicious outcomes and preserves righteous social order.

After instructing Vālmīki, Nārada is respectfully received and then departs with Vālmīki’s leave.

Vālmīki’s humility and adherence to dharmic etiquette in receiving a revered guest.
