Shloka 2.98.12
चित्रकूटप्रवेशः — Bharata Enters the Forest Toward Chitrakuta
सुभगश्चित्रकूटोऽसौ गिरिराजोपमो गिरिः।यस्मिन्वसति काकुत्स्थः कुबेर इव नन्दने।।2.98.12।।
kṛtakṛtyā mahābhāgā vaidehī janakātmajā |
bhartāraṃ sāgarāntāyāḥ pṛthivyā yānugacchati ||2.98.11||
Vaidehī, the illustrious daughter of Janaka, has indeed fulfilled her purpose: she follows her husband, the lord of the earth bounded by the ocean.
Like Kubera in the Nandana garden, Rama lives here on mount Chitrakuta which is indeed blessed like the Himalaya, king of the mountains.
The verse foregrounds marital dharma and steadfast commitment—Sītā chooses hardship with Rama, upholding truth and fidelity over comfort.
Bharata reflects on the greatness of Sītā as he approaches the exile-dwelling of Rama and his household.
Sītā’s constancy, courage, and wifely devotion (pativratā-dharma) are emphasized.
