भरद्वाजाश्रमगमनम् (Bharata at Bharadvāja’s Hermitage)
श्वस्तु गन्तासि तं देशं वसाद्य सह मन्त्रिभिः।एतन्मे कुरु सुप्राज्ञ कामं कामार्थकोविद।।2.90.23।।
samāgamya vasiṣṭhena bharatena abhivāditaḥ |
abuddhyata mahātejāḥ sutaṃ daśarathasya tam ||2.90.5||
After meeting Vasiṣṭha and receiving Bharata’s respectful salutation, the radiant Bharadvāja recognized him as Daśaratha’s son.
O supremely sagacious prince gifted with the knowledge of kama (desire) and artha (wealth), tomorrow you go, but to night stay here with your ministers and fulfil my desire.
Respectful greeting (abhivādana) as dharmic conduct: Bharata’s salutation reflects humility and adherence to traditional etiquette toward elders and sages.
Bharata and Vasiṣṭha meet Bharadvāja; Bharata greets him, and Bharadvāja identifies Bharata’s royal lineage.
