लक्ष्मणगुणवर्णनम् — Lakshmana’s Vigil and Guha’s Testimony
नहि रामात्प्रियतरो ममास्ति भुवि कश्चन।मोत्सुकोऽभूर्ब्रवीम्येतदप्यसत्यं तवाग्रतः।।।।
nahi rāmāt priyataro mamāsti bhuvi kaścana | mā utsuko 'bhūr bravīmy etad api satyaṃ tavāgrataḥ ||
For me, there is no one on earth dearer than Rāma. Do not be anxious; I speak this truth in your very presence.
To me, there is none on earth dearer than Rama. Do not have any anxiety. I am telling you the truth.
Truthfulness (satya) joined with compassionate reassurance—Guha pledges sincerity and calms Bharata’s fear without deception.
Bharata is anxious about Rāma’s safety; Guha responds by affirming his affection for Rāma and speaking truthfully to reassure him.
Guha’s loyalty and integrity: steadfast friendship toward Rāma and commitment to speak the truth openly.
